This tool automatically joins your calls and transcribes the entire meeting. Sounds amazing, right? 😃

I tested Sembly AI during ten of our meetings at Techlairs. 

We wanted to see if it really provides high-quality transcriptions. 

From the start, I was eager to determine if it lived up to the hype. Spoiler alert: it didn’t disappoint!

It automatically attends and records your Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, and Webex meetings, so you’ll never miss an important point.

Connecting Your Calendar with Sembly AI

By connecting your calendar to your Sembly account, Sembly AI will automatically join each of your meetings. This makes it much easier to take down meeting notes. 📆

Here are the steps to connect your calendar with Sembly.

Step 1: Sign up

Visit Sembly AI’s homepage and click the “Try it Free” button at the top. 

You’ll be redirected to their pricing page. Choose the free plan or the 7-day free trial to access all features. I chose the trial.

You can sign up via Microsoft, Google, or Apple or manually enter your email. Verify your email to start using the AI. ✅

Step 2: Personalize Your Profile

After signing up, personalize your profile by entering your role, preferred language, and the type of meetings you’ll use Sembly for.

Choose your plan and enter your credit card details to start the free trial.

Step 3: Watch the Guide Video

You’ll be redirected to your dashboard, where a guide will appear.

It includes a short YouTube video to help you understand Sembly AI and its features. We strongly recommend watching it before using the app.

Step 4: Open Settings

At the bottom left of your screen, click the settings icon to open your settings.

Step 5: Connect Your Calendars

Connect your Google and Outlook calendars within the “My calendars” option.

I connected my Google Calendar by clicking on the “Connect” option. 👆🏻

Step 6: Grant Access

Choose which meetings Sembly should join and grant the necessary access.

Select the Google account you want Sembly to access and grant permissions.

Step 7: View Your Meetings

Once synced, view all your meetings in the “My Meetings” tab.

Other Options to Add Sembly AI to Your Meetings

Connecting your calendar is the easiest way to automatically add Sembly AI to your meetings. 

But what if you want to add Sembly to an unscheduled meeting? 🤔

You can use the instant invite feature if you need to add Sembly to an unscheduled meeting. 

Simply click on the “New Meeting” option at the top right corner, then select the “Invite Sembly” option. 

By adding the meeting link, Sembly will join your meeting instantly.

For in-person meetings, Sembly AI offers a recording feature. 

You can record the meeting using the microphone on your laptop or phone. This ensures that your offline discussions are captured and transcribed accurately. 📱

If you have an old meeting that needs to be transcribed, Sembly AI can also handle that. 

Upload an audio or video of the meeting, and the AI will transcribe the content. 

This flexibility makes Sembly AI a versatile and adaptable tool. It ensures you never miss a detail, whether your meetings are scheduled, unscheduled, or in-person.

Taking Meeting Notes with Sembly AI

Sembly AI provides some of the smartest AI meeting notes. It outlines your discussions clearly, capturing every important detail. 

It is fluent in English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, and Japanese. Plus, it supports over 32 other beta languages. 🌍

You can easily export transcripts to PDF, too. 

This makes sharing and reviewing meeting notes simple. 

You can also customize your meeting notes to fit your needs. This ensures you capture what matters most.

Sembly AI is for more than just live meetings. 

You can upload previously recorded audio or video files for Sembly to transcribe. 

This flexibility ensures you never miss important information, no matter how your meetings are conducted.

Besides taking meeting notes, Sembly AI also records the entire audio and video of your meeting. 

You can view or download these recordings later.

How to Take Meeting Notes with Sembly AI?

Taking meeting notes with Sembly AI is simple and efficient. Here’s how you can do it.

Step 1: View All of Your Meetings

Once your meetings are synced, you have several options. 

You can choose whether to attend the meeting or let Sembly AI attend and take notes. You can also select the meeting language. 

To join a meeting directly, click on the Google Meet link from within Sembly.

Step 2: Admit Sembly AI to the Meeting

When you’re in the meeting, admit Sembly AI as you would any other participant. Continue your meeting as usual. 

Sembly AI will take detailed notes throughout the meeting. 🗒️

Step 3: Wait for Sembly to Process the Meeting

After the meeting, go to your Sembly dashboard to view the transcription. 

Sembly takes a few minutes to process the meeting. 

It can take up to 25% of the call’s duration to transcribe the meeting fully. Sembly AI took around a minute to process our 6 minute catch-up meeting.

Step 4: Review the AI-Generated Summary and Timeline

At the top of the transcription, you’ll find an AI-generated summary of the meeting. 

Sembly accurately summarized our discussion, noting all key points. 

You also get access to a timeline-based outline of the conversation. 

This helps teammates who couldn’t attend follow along efficiently. 

You can edit the transcription and download it as needed. ⬇️

Viewing Assigned Tasks with Sembly AI

Sembly AI is more than just a transcription tool. It identifies and organizes tasks discussed in your meetings as well. 

This makes it easy to keep track of what needs to be done.  

To view these tasks, click on the side panel and select the option to view tasks.

Sembly provides a clear description of each task. It includes who assigned the task, who it is assigned to, and the deadline. 💬

This information is pulled directly from the meeting discussion, ensuring accuracy.

Once identified, Sembly AI can send these tasks directly to your task management software like Slack or Trello. 

This seamless integration helps streamline your workflow, ensuring everyone knows their responsibilities and deadlines. 

Viewing Key Items and Meeting Transcription

Sembly AI excels at highlighting the key items from your meetings. This includes challenges discussed and their solutions. 

These items are neatly outlined as risks, challenges, or critical events, helping you understand the overall flow of the meeting.

You can also view the entire transcription of the meeting. 

Sembly AI accurately identifies speakers and transcribes your meeting notes, removing filler words for clarity. 

We observed a chaotic situation in one of our meetings, with multiple people speaking simultaneously. 🗣️

However, Sembly AI managed to identify the speakers and transcribe the meeting.

This ensures you capture every important detail, even in busy discussions.

Chatting with Semblian Chatbot

In this Sembly AI review, let’s see how you can use its built-in chatbot. 

Sembly AI features a ChatGPT-like chatbot called Semblian for your meetings. 🤖

You can ask the chatbot questions or have it generate emails based on your meetings. 

It can also create personalized messages that highlight key takeaways from the meeting. 

To access the chatbot, click on the icon at the bottom right corner of the screen. 

Each question costs 6 credits. During our free trial, we received 150 credits. 

This was enough to understand and test the chatbot.

Viewing Workspace Analytics on Sembly AI

Workspace Analytics on Sembly AI is a powerful tool available only to the Workspace Admin. 

It allows you to track your team’s activity and overall meeting statistics. This helps teams understand trends and evaluate the effectiveness of their meetings.

You can view various metrics such as total meetings, average members per meeting, and the average time each member spends on meetings. 

It also monitors the total number of tasks and calculates the average number of tasks for each workspace member. 📊

These metrics are calculated based on a selected period, which you can set using the filter.

Additionally, Sembly AI calculates how many hours you save by using it instead of producing meeting notes by hand. 

It provides an estimation of the number of hours saved by full-time employees. 

This feature helps you understand the productivity gains from Sembly AI, making it easier to justify its use for your team.

Does Sembly AI Offer Paid Plans?

Sembly AI offers paid plans along with a free version. 

Like many AI tools, Sembly uses a freemium model. This means you can use Sembly for free with some limitations or subscribe to a paid plan for full access to all features.

Sembly AI has two main paid plans: Professional and Team.

Does Sembly AI Offer a Free Trial?

Sembly AI offers a free trial, unlike many other AI tools. 

You can subscribe to any of their paid plans for 7 days and use the app without restrictions. 

However, you must enter your credit card details to access the free trial. 

But don’t worry; you won’t be charged until the end of the trial period. 💳

You can also cancel your trial at any time. To do this, go to the Settings option, then the Billing option. 

Click on the Manage option and choose the Cancel Subscription option. 

You can still use unspent trial days after the cancellation. 

This ensures you can try Sembly AI risk-free and decide if it meets your needs before committing to a paid plan.

What if You Don’t Like Sembly AI’s Paid Plans?

While Sembly AI is a smart note-taking tool, it might only be suitable for some. 🧑‍🧒‍🧒

If you purchase a paid plan and decide it’s not for you, here’s what you need to know. 

Unfortunately, you cannot cancel your subscription in the middle of the month and get a refund. 

Sembly AI does not offer refunds once you buy their license.

However, you can easily cancel your plan from the settings. You won’t be charged for the next billing cycle. 

Even if you cancel in the middle of the month, you will still have access to all the paid features until the end of that billing month. 

After that, your plan will automatically be downgraded to the free personal plan.
